- What did he think we were? Fanatical Amigaphiles who would descend to the point

- From what I hear, David Pleasance wasn`t much better - a VERY aggressive sales
- tactic: "if you don`t buy x-hundred units, I`m afraid we won`t give you first
- shipment on the all-new top-secret Amiga that is going to be released any day
- now."

- Not only that, but the sales staff are ex-high street chain no-brainers.
- ex-Rumbelows no-brainers at that.

- I can guarantee there`s plenty of us about. Quite a few of us wouldn`t have
- minded a job in Escom stores looking after Amiga stuff. At the time, I was just
- out of university summer `95 and could have done with a job working with the
- Amiga.

- Well, if I was actually on the AT staff, I`d have made sure that any Amiga mag
- (actually anyone) could come to AT UK HQ and have a demo/interview. If there
- was no advertising budget, let the reviews/interviews, and features do the
- talking. To some people (me included), an editorial comment is worth a lot more
- than an advert.

- Oh for crying out loud! Is that why Digita got the Lions share of the Magic
- pack? Did they bring their own Amigas round while Gordon Harwoods (Softwood
- Europe) didn`t?

-
- Well, maybe Escom did the right thing in ditching Anderson, at least. Put
- someone from the magazines in charge. Someone who actually knows what to do
- with the Amiga.

- Well, to fix things up, I suggest that AT could start a power-up scheme for old
- A1200s when the A1200Plus comes out. It`ll give them plenty of Amigas to
- distribute amongst developers and AT departments for a very small fee.
-
- I just wonder if the damage done to the UK market by the poor re-introuction of
- te A1200 can be repaired. In particular, how are they going to fix the rip-off
- prce structure without treading on a few customers toes when they inevitably
- have to slash the price of the A1200 quite savagely to make way for the
- A1200Plus. They have no reason not to, since they claimed that higher price was
- due to the initial production ramp-up.
-
- Quite frankly, AT have one, maybe 2 shots left before it really is game over -
- A1200Plus, and PPC. Make them count.
